TAUPO ROAD
IMPROVEMENT WORK The Taupo road, a very beautiful motoring route at the present tunc owingi to the masses of golden broom which fringe the highway as it advances towards Lake Taupo, is nevertheless considerably behind other main roads in New Zealand as' far as development and motoring comfort is concerned. With this fact in view' the Hawke's Bay County Council is considering a fiveyear plan of improvement, for .this road, and assistance for the work, is lo be sought from the Main Highways Board.
The road between Napier and Taupo is increasing in importance yearly, with the. advance in the tourist' tfafne' of the Dominion, and although much good work has been carried out as a 'result of the establishment of the single men's camp at Maori Cully,' still in" operation, there is much still to be done in the way of eliminating sharp bends and widening the road. If the, suggestion of the Hawke's Pay County is approved'a-com-prehensive, plan will be prepared. -
