WIVES’ THREAT

BUYING STRIKE NEW YORK MEAT PRICES WASHINGTON, Juno 21. A delegation of militant New York and Chicago housewives on Thursday threatened the New Deal with an immediate and nation-wire buying strike unless meat prices arc lowered. The women told Agricultural Department officials that they and “hundreds of thousands of others” have been living on fish and vegetables in New York and Chicago for tho last month in a vigorous effort to lower ices there. They said their movement had spread to Pittsburgh, Paterson, N.J., St. Louis, Cleveland and elsewhere, and that unless the Government acts to lower meat prices, their strike would assume nation-wide proportions.

“Wo consumers aro tired of seeing our children go without meat when they need it to become strong,” said Miss Rose Nelson, spokesman of the group.
