FILM COLONY TRAGEDY

CAMERA MAN DROWNED HEAVY SEAS SINK BARGE SANTA BABARA (Cal.), July 27. A barge representing a British warship, used in filming “The Cruise of the Bounty,” sank in heavy seas off San Miguel Island to-day and Glenn Strong, a cameraman, was drowned. Equipment valued at 50,000 dollars was lost.

Reports of the accident are meagre and it is unknows if any of the 75 players engaged were aboard. It is assumed that, if they were, all are saved. “Stars” engaged in the production, including Clark Gable, Chas. Laughton and Franchot Tone, were not with the unit at San Miguel.
