CHAMPIONSHIP SHOOT
TOKOMARU GUN CLUB JOBLIN’S DOUBLE 11)0 shooting at Talapouri during tho week-end was of a high standard when the Poverty Bay clay bird championships were conducted by the Tokomaru Bay Gun Club, for both single and double rises. There was a good attendance of competitors, including live from Opotiki, and one match drew as many as 19 entrants. Owing to a late start and a lengthy shoot-otf in the championship, it was not possible to hold as many handicap matches'as was at first intended. For the single rise championship four competitors tied with 20 out of 21, and in the shoot-off F. Joblin won on the twenty-seventh round. Joblin was also successful in tho double rise championship. Tho results were as follows :
Poverty Bay championship, single rise.—F. Joblin, G. Glennie, S. G. Glennie and K. Cameron tied with 20 breaks out of 21 and divided the sweepstake. Twenty-seven rounds were required to decide the winner of the title, Joblin then winning from G. Glennie. Poverty Bay championship, double rise (10 pairs).—F. Joblin 19, F. Smythe 18, W. Oates, G. Glennie and S. G. Glennie, equal, 17. Seven-bird sweepstake.—Tho following shot the possible and divided the money: G. Glennie, F. Joblin, S. G. Glennie, F. Smythe and Rex Oates. Ten-bird handicap.—The following shot the possible and divided the money: F. Joblin, S. G. Glennie, F. Leggett, E. Q. Wilkins, F. Young (Opotiki), and K. Cameron. _ First miss out.—W. Oates and another tied.
