Good progress has heeii made with the fimdatioiis of the new railway bridge over the Ashburton Fiver. Thirty-one of the required 33 concrete piers have been completed and the foundation work will he finished by duly 27. The. length of the new bridge will be 1155 ft., the piers being 35ft. apart.
