GISBORNE REPERTORY SOCIETY tin no occasion lias an audience attending any of the Gisborne Repertory .Society's performances left the Opera House without the feeling that they have witnessed a first-class performance and one to which, were the society to repeat, the performance, they would willingly go again. The comments have always been that it is. a pity that there arc not more productions staged, and this is due entirely to the fact that the society cannot ask their performers to take up the whole of their time for the benefit of the public. Were the list of performing members larger, then undoubtedly the committee would he glad to fall in with the wishes of all and stage many more performances. One department to which the committee lias always given especial care has been the staging effects, and those who have had (lie benefit of seeing performances by similar societies all over New Zealand state that in no case have these effects compared with those of the Gisborne society.
