W.I. GARDENING CIRCLT

(Herald Correspondent ) Prior to the To Karakn Women’s Institute’s meeting on Thursday, the gardening circle met- in the Waikohit Hall, and in°tlie unavoidable absence of the convener, AHss Orl*, the chair was occupied bv Airs. 11. Allan.

'The spring bulb show was fully discussed. the date being fixed for Sept ember 12. A committee was elected to organise the function, comprising Aliss Or. convener, Aliss Seamens, lion, secretary. and Mesdames- O’Connell. Sleet, Alamiel. Barclay. SelTon, and Fisher. II was announced that- Mr. IV J. Scfton had offered to donate £1 Is. which il was decided to uiilise for two points prizes, the points prizes for the other sections to he donated by the Women s Institute. Only slight alterations were made to last year’s schedule. When the business was concluded, Airs. M. D. Alanuel gave a lucid demonstration on rose pruning and was heartily thanked.

The competition, a bowl of violets, was not well contested and resulted in Aliss L. On- being placed first and Airs. If. O’Connell, second.

A committor meeting in connection with the Girl Guides' movement was held recently in ihn Parish Hall, and it was decided to have the Te Karaka company represented at the annual training camp to he held at Otamai. Auckland, next month.
