MORE EVEN BALANCE

CANADIAN-AUSTRALIAN TRADE MR. LYONS .REPEATS APPEAL VICTORIA, 8.C., July IS. Taking advantage of the unexpected presence of the Australian Prime Minister, Mr. J. A, Lyons, due to the Niagara’s collision, the Rotary Club invited him to give an address at a luncheon during which he declared it was most important that Australia's trade balance with Canada should be increased, adding that lie did not wish to decrease Canada’s trade, but to bring about a more even, balance. He said he would even welcome an increase in Canadian exports providing Australian leeway' was made up. As it will require 10 days to repair the Niagara, Mr. Lyons took it steamer to Seattle, and thence proceeds to San Francisco by railway to connect with the Mariposa, sailing for Australia on Tuesday. Twenty of the Niagara’s other passengers have signified their intention of returning to Australia via San' Francisco.
