TO BE REOPENED
GIRLS’ HOSTEL SCHOOL BOARD’S DECISION After being closed for four years the girls’ hostel controlled by the‘Gisborne High School Board of Governors is to be reopened at the beginning of next year. This decision was reached at last evening’s meeting of the board. The hostel was closed as an economy measure in 1931 and since then a number of girl students have been accommodated at the rectory. .The board, which has discussed the matter on various occasions, considered that the time was now ripe for the reopening of the hostel and with'the widened curriculum the school now offered it- hoped to gain increased support. A special home science -course is in-cluded-in the girls’ training and the board anticipates that as a result, country residents will avail themselves of the opportunity afforded to their daughters by these special classes. Miss E. E. Stephens, who has been 12 years on the. teaching staff of the school, will be in charge of the hostel. she has previously had charge, of the hostel for a short period.
