BEAUTIFYING ASSOCIATION

I MEMBERSHIP DRIVE NEED FOR FUNDS The committee of tile Gisborne Reauti’vnig Association lias had the question t£ increasing its membership and funds under review for a considerable time. It has been decided to make a special appeal for new members and lor funds during Arbor Day week on Friday and Saturday, August 9. and 10. Tiie assistance of a large number of organisations has been promised and it is hoped that the efforts of the committee will meet with a liberal response from the public. It is evident that the amount of work that can he accomplished in improving the appearance of the town by tfie planting of treys and in other ways is 'trietly limited by the amount of tinnnc.ni support obtained from its citizens, and it is hoped that this organised effort ■'ill he literally responded to by all who have the best interests of tbe town at heart.

A considerable number of helpers have signified their willingness to lend fhei'- assistance in making ibis canvass of the town, and the help of any others who may be willinsr to act in this or in any other wav will be welcomed by the committee. The planting season is rapidly drawing to a close and it is therefore necessary to make this effort as successful as possible before operations for the year come to an end.
