TROUT-FISHING SEASON
Tfli: ROTfrR'U.Y DISTRICT The Conservator of Fisheries at Rotoni.f, Mr. A. K«rh, has issued a' report for the Rotorua district during the second Week of the fortnight endod March 15. The weather was showery and rather rough, making fishing conditions unpleasant in the Rotorua lakes. .Many of the favorite places were unfishable. owing to the strong northerly winds causing the water to be discolored. Nevertheless, some good catches were reported. Potoiti is producing some very fine rainbow trout, which arc commencing to work into the shallow waters. The' Rotorua end of the Ohau Channel at Cochrane Park is fishing well now. Painbow are very plentiful in Mission Hay, hut ■ire not taking too well. At Waikaremoana good catches were taken by several parties. Oood sport was obtained in the Ray of Plenty .rivers with the dry fly, the, Waimana being the water mostly patron, ise'd, The fish taken were' in very good condition and averaged 21b.
