MOVEMENT IN P.B. ANNUAL GENERAL M'EETINCi The annual genera! .meeting of .the Douglas Social Credit .Movement in Poverty Bay was held last night, when there! A'a's an attendance of over ICO members, and the proceedings were marked by enthusiasm. The report and balance-sheet for the year referred to the activities of the Poverty Bay district council during the year, the balance-sheet showing a small credit balance for the period. Mr. J. 11. Cato was unanimously elected president of the district council, with Messrs. IS. Lenihan and L. Elisor is vice-presidents, .Mr. Nafusch as secretary, and' -Mr. A. Cleave as treasurer. Mr. .1. 11. Cato and the Rev. 11. Daniel were elected delegates to the national council. The other officers will consist of delegates to the district council elected by each of the 10 local branches. A telegram from * Auckland was read at the meeting, advising that t Mr. H. 0. Mellsop, president of the Auckland provincial branch of the Farmers' Union, was prepared to address a meeting at Gisborne on Friday evening. It was resolved that ' the necessary arrangements should be made to hold the meeting in Le Grand Cafe at 8 p.m. on Friday and to invite farmers and others to attend and hear something about the Mortgage Corporation Act. At the conclusion of the ordinary bust, ne'ss, Mr. J. H. Cato delivered a very inspiring address oh the outlook in general and the steps necessary to avert a calamity. The speaker's remarks were followed with interest throughout, and were loudly applauded. The meeting opened with the singing of the social' credit rally song, which was also sung by those present at the end of the meeting. The funds of the movement benefited by liberal donations" from those present, from sales of copies of the rally song, and from the number of new members who joined up during the even, ing. The meeting was easily the best and most enthusiastic which has yet been held locally in connection with the Social Credit Movement.
