THE WEATHER To-day's North Island Eeport. Overcast conditions were, , reported north of East Cape this morning, witli rain at "Auckland, but blue skies prevailed further south in the North Island. Light westerly breezes were general. The barometer had commenced a lulling movement. Temperatures at 9 0 clock were: Auckland and Gisborne d degrees, Tauranga 73, Opotiki 75, East Cape, Napier and Wellington 74. Rough seas were reported at Castlepoint; elseliere moderate or smooth. Last Night's Forecast A fairly intense anticyclone still covers New Zealand and areas to the eastward, while, a depression is located over the south-west Tasmaa Sea. Winds northeast to north-west prevailing, light to moderate, but later freshening, especially over the South Island. Seas smooth to moderate, but later rising somewhat m Cook and Fovea ux Straits. Eastern Tasman. moderate but increasing northerly winds- seas smooth to moderate, but rising.
