GOLDEN MILE DISPUTE
6000 MINERS ON STRIKE MELBOURNE, Jan. 7. A Kalgoorlio message states that 6000 miners are now on strike from all the mines on the Golden Mile at Boulder. The dispute is due to the refusal of the men to agree to an 84-hour fortnight, consisting of 40 hours spread over five days and 48 hours in the following week, which is provided under the new award. The men are demanding a continuation of the former 44-hour week.
