POVERTY BAY ASSOCIATION

POSITION OP TEAMS

The position .of teams in the. Thursday and Saturday first grade competitions were announced at the weekly meeting of the management committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association, lield last evening, the first meeting since the holidays. Air. P. G. Dwyer presided, and there were present also Messrs. J. J. Macdonald. G. N. Lockett. A. Digital]. A. R. Baker, R. Conuop, and \Y. J. •1 ennings, acting-secretary. At the close of the fourth round, the positions of the teams in the .Saturday first grade competition were us follow:-

City, 23: Givi! Service, 21; Marist, 20; Old Boys. 17; High School. 14: YVliutaupoko. 15; Turaiigauui. 11: Gisborne Club, 0.

Positions of the Thursday teams were reported to be as follow:—R.S.A., 25; Retailers, 22: Gash Stores. 21; Wanderers, 20. A letter was received from the Gisborne Borough Council inquiring whether it would be possible for the association to arrange a match lor the learn from HALS. Laburnum with either a Thursday or Saturday team. Owing to Die necessity to proceed with the competitions precluding the possibility of any of the teams engaged taking part in a match with the visitors, it was decided to request Mr. 11. F. Forster to arrange a team.

the draw for this week resulted as fol lows :

Thursday.—Retailers v. R.S.A., and Gash Stores v. Wanderers, both matches at the Oval.

Saturday second grade.- —Ain l ist v. Unemployed, and High School A v. High School It. both matches at the High School.

The following outstanding performances last Saturday were recorded:—G. N. Lockett (Old Boys), 185 v. Civil Service ; G. J. Robertson (What-aupoko), 138 v. City; M. Sharp (High School), eight wickets for 65 runs, v Turanganui.
