INSPECTION BY PUBLIC
TRANSPORT ARRANGEM ENTS
So far as the public are concerned, 11..M.5, Laburnum spent a quiet day ather anchorage in the roadstead to-day, though the crew of the sloop themselves are engaged in exercises in preparation for her return to Auckland, where the Laburnum /is to be inspected by. the Governor-General. Her paintwork is also to be renewed during the stay at Gisborne.
Commander A. 11. Maxwell-HysJop intimated yesterday that the vessel would be open for inspection by the public between the hours of 2.30 and 6 p.m. ou Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and arrangements for the transportation of adults and children from the wharf to the warship are at present under consideration, though there will not be many vessels available for that purpose, as the s.s. Tiroa and the. m.v. Karoro leave at midnight to-morrow for Tokomaru Bay for lightering duties. Commander Maxwell-Hyslop and his senior officers motored to Morere to-day in a party arranged by the .Mayor, Mr. .lotm Jackson, and Ibis evening ratings of the Laburnum will engage in a swimming carnival under tho auspices of the Gisborne Amateur Surf and Swimming Club. The Harbor Board has placed the launch Takitimu at the disposal of the commander for the conveyance of liberty men from and to the ship.
