While bathing at Kairakan Beach, Hawke’s Bay, on Wednesday, Mr. A. E. Grainger, nf Otane, collapsed and did not regain consciousness. The late Mr. Grainger came to New Zealand with bis parents in 1886, and, after a short period in Napier, went farming in the Kiritaki district near Dannevirke. He also had a farm at Omakere, but, for some years, had been a resident of Otane.
