CRICKET AT THE OVAL
SENIOR COMPETITION
TO-DAY’S MATCHES
After,,. a lapse of one playing Saturs day, the .Poverty Bay , Cricket Association's senior championship competition was continued at the Oval this afternoon, when the fifth series of two-day matches in the first round was commenced. Play took place in ideal weather conditions, and on wickets that, despite the rain, were in splendid condition. The positions of the teams at or near the afternoon tea interval were as follow : Marist v. Gisborne Club, No. 1 wicket.—Marist, first innings, 47 for four wickets (Hallamore 34, not out). Whataupoko v. City, No. 2 wicket. — a Whataupoko, first, innings, 101 for one wicket (G. J. Robertson 49, not out, Aislabie 26, not out). Turangamii v. High School, No. 3 wicket. —Turangamii. first innings, 72 for three wickets (G. Scholium 43, not out, A. Wilson 19. not out). Old Boys v. Civil Service, No. 4 wicket.—Old Boys, first innings, 72 for two wickets (G. C. Clifton 33, not out, G. N. Lockett 19, not out).
