HIGH DIGNITARY CARDINAL IN AUCKLAND (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A high dignitary of the Roman Catholic Cliurcii, Cardinal Macßory, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, who has been in Australia as Papal Legate to the National Eucharistic Congress, held in Melbourne in connection with the Centenary celebrations, arrived by the Niagara for a brief visit, to Auckland and Rotorua.
A sfKitlo man of strikingly simple character, he remarked of Australia: wtws there for the deluge,” and of Ireland: "It is* stilt the same dear old land.”
Soon after leaving the ship he presided in St. Patrick’s Cathedral at a solemn Requiem Mass for Archbishop Redwood.
