Writing in the P.L.A. Monthly on the subject of cocoa, Mr A. G. Linnoy tells this story in support of the view that the cocoa planter's lot "is not a happy one." "A certain cocoa planter, retiring with a fortune <>i' £OO 000, was congratulated by a friend, who sought light as 10 the secret of his success. The answer was: 'Well, I. used to rise early and reach the estate in good time every day. I worked hard and did all il could to oblige my customers by shipping iuv cocoa well up to standard. Then n.'v uncle died and left mo a legacy "of ■t-10.0M.' "
