Mr. William Watson, for many years a member of the board of the Bank of New Zealand, was 88 years of age last Friday. Tho liner Oronsay, visiting Gisborne to-day, is commanded by Captain Charles G. Matlieson, commodore skipper of the Orient Line, and formerly master of the Otranto. Captain Matheson was recently appointed A.D.O, to His Majesty the King. Mr S. E, McGregor, who has been district inspector of factories at Nelson for the past 14 months, has received notice of his transfer on promotion to Wanganui. Mr McGregor will leave Nelson nt the end of January and his position will be filled by Mr J. Melvor, of Whnngarci.
Mr. R. J. M. Reynolds, of Gisborne, returned by the Oronsay, which arrived at Auckland from Australia on Boxing Day. Mr. Reynolds travelled to England with Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Reynolds, and remained for some time in tho Old Country after their return to New. Zealand. He is expected to come on to Gisborne from Auckland next week.
