Serious injuries were suffered by Miss Winnie Rowling, youngest daughter of Mr Syd. Rowling, Kiwaka, through the accidental discharge of a pea rifle. She slipped on the steps and the rifle discharged, the bullet entering her abdomen. She was removed to Nelson Hospital.
