SHIPPING COMBINE
PROPOSED DISSOLUTION
NEW GERMAN SCHEME
BERLIN, Dec. 9
Herr Essberger, shipping magnate, announced to-day that he had submitted to the Government a proposal to dissolve the pooling agreement between the Norddeutscher Lloyd Lino and the Hamburg-Amerika Line, which has been in force for 50 years.
It is proposed that the HamburgAmerika concern b B . divided into independent. groups, 'dealing, first, with the North Atlantic; secondly, with the East, Asia and Australia; and thirdly, with the remainder of the American continent, and . that the Norddeutscher Lloyd be divided into groups dealing with the North ■'•Atlantic and the Pacific. , '
All smaller associates absorbed-in 1930 will ibe restored to independence as, owing to .the concentration" they are not paying, although their tonnage has, been reduced from 4,200,000 to 3,400,000.
