TREE FOR THE CHILDREN
The usual festive spirit will prevail at the Cook Hospital on Christmas Day, and every effort is being made to allow both patients and staff the opportunity of enjoying the occasion. The night sister will be in the role of Santa Claus, but without the popular regalia, and will leave each of the adult patients a present very early in the morning. Dinner at noon will be the result of a special effort, and the menu will contain some food not usually provided for patients. The nurses will dine in the nurses’ home at 1 o’clock, and here again dainties , not usually on the menu will be served.
Tho wards in the hospital will lie decorated for Christmas Day with balloons and colored lamp-shades, and the celebrations will culminate at 2.30 p.m. with a Christmas tree in the children’s ward. All patients who are able will assemble, and Santa Claus suitably attired will arrive and hand each child a present from the tree. The Rev. F. I. Parsons will be making one of his final public appearances before leaving for Tolaga Bay, and it will be a popular role that he will play. Arrangements have been made for each of the children to receive a specially broadcast Christmas message from, station 2ZJ.
