The new Cabinet is officially announced as follows: Premier: M. Fiandin. Minister of Foreign Affairs: M. Pierre Laval. Minister of Finance: M. Germain Martin. Minister of Marine: M. Francois Piotri. Minister of Air: M. Demfin. Minister of Colonies: M. Rollin. Minister of Pensions: M. Eivollet. Minister of Justice: M. Pernot. Minister of the Interior: M. Itcgnier.
Minister of Education: M. Andre Mallarme. Minister of War: General Mamin. , Minister of Public Works: M. Roy. Minister of Commerce: M. Mcrchanefeu..
Minister of Agriculture: M. Casscv. Minister of Labor: M. Jaequer. Minister of Post Office: M. Mcvael. Minister of Mercantile Marine: M. Bertrand. Minister of Health: M. Ilenri Queuille. Ministers without portfolio: M. Edouard Herriot and M. Louis Maria.
The Cabinet is balanced similarly to that of M. Doumergu-e. M. Fiandin, in announcing the names, said: “The truce continues, and differences have been forgotten."
Two demonstrations occurred at today’s brief session of the Chamber and ended with cries from the Left of “Down with the Assassins" and shouts from the Right and Centre of “Vive Doumergue! " The Cabinet meeting, despite the mechanical procedure, did not lack drama, inasmuch as-i^turned the last pago of the last chapter of public services of “Papa” Doumergue, whose wife quietly awaited' him outside his office, while he cleared up his papers preparatory to handing over to M. Fiandin.
The police were reinforced in the city, which is comparatively quiet, except for the parading of students and members of youth organisations whom the police keep moving. The Croix de Feu is calm, and refrains from meetings and speeches. It will give anyone with, a clean political reputation a chance, but there is no guarantee that a hurriedly formed stopgap Ministry will outlast a few weeks.
Lobbyists declare that the pre-truce days of three months’ Cabinets have returned.
Patriotic organisations, though not mobilised, stand at attention awaiting events. The Action Franchise is preparing.
