CAR PLUNGES INTO CREEK

MAN KILLED: FIVE HURT I,ETURNINO FROM A DANCE (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. One man was killed and live othois seriously injured when an open louring' car plunged through the railing of a one-car bridge on Ihe bend o( the road from Albany to Auckland at 12.30 o’clock this morning.

The occupant killed was Michael Stepich, IP, of Devonport. The other five occupants, who all received concussion and arc in a serious condition, were: —Richard Powell, 25, single; Noel Langton, 25, single; John Cogan, 20; James McGregor, 18. and Ross .Tones, 16—all of Devonport.

The six young men had been attending a dance -at Albany and were . returning home towards Devonport. The car hit the left-hand railing of the bridge and plunged 30ft. into a creek below. It came to rest upside down. Two of the men were thrown clear and', the others were pinioned under the car. but fortunately at the time there was only a lew inches oi water in the creek.

Medical attention was obtained and a special ferry boat chartered to take the injured men to Auckland Hospital.
