ENGLISH TEAM “PONSEORDS” & “LARWOODS” LONDON, Oct. IS. The women cricketers. for- A usl ralia, who will sail in R..M.S. Cathay, were entertained' to-day by 1 the Women’s Cricket Association. The captain, Miss Archdalc, who has just got her law degree, said her team would play in divided skirts and short-sleeved shirts. All the bowlers bowl overarm, and most; of them are medium to fas!, but Miss M. Hide turns the ball.
“ Wf will probably be strongest in fielding,” Miss Archdale said. “We are going to Australia determined to play tin: game, and while doing our best, to win we hope to preserve, a friendly spirit and not get too solemn about it.”
MBs M. Maclagan, who is a Ponsford rather than a Bradman, is the best bat, and she will probably open (lie innings with the vice-captain, Miss
Snowball. Miss Snowball is wicketkeeper. .M iss Taylor, the team V Larwood, said she was looking forward to fast wickets in Australia. She laughingly denied any intention to bowl bodyline, or even a suggestion of leg theory!
