BYRD IN CHARGE AGAIN SILENT ON ADVENTURE TATTLE AMERICA, Oct. 15. After a long absence Admiral Richard Bvrd quietly resumed direct control of the expedition and reoccupied his quarters in the administration building this morning. He rested later, and carried on interviews and consultations with his assistants from his bunk. Admiral Byrd Is inclined to be reticent regarding his adventures at the Bolling base. He said: “I ani all right now. I am more interested in learning what is going oh hero, and settling on tho best means \for accomplishing the big job ahead of us. The other seems a long way bgck now. The present job is more imperative." The two tractor parties again started operations despite the weather. No. 2 party returned from the Bolling base, where they cached supplies. Mr. Harold .Tune’s group is reported to have made repairs and progressed to the foot of the Grace McKinley mountain, part of tho Ford range, and marked out a landing field for future explorations. They will start on their return trip to-day if the weather is good.
