BOY KING WELCOMED

ARRIVAL IN BELGRADE TOUCHING CEREMON V WIDOWED QUEEN IN TEARS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received October 15, 11 a.m.) BELGRADE, Oct. 14. Enthusiastic crowds welcomed King Peter at the railway station. He was dressed simply in grey, with a black armband, and shyly greeted the Regent, Prince Paul, and inspected the guard of honor, saying the traditional greeting, "God Save You,” the guard repeating the words in unison. The Mayor offered King Peter the traditional Oriental gift of bread and salt.

The Prime Minister visibly moved the young King’s dignified bearing when lie pronounced the official welcome: "The Government and people greet Your Majesty, and express unbounded and unshakeable devotion. We swear that we will firmly stand behind Your Majesty, our well-beloved King, the hope of Jugo-Slavia, irE fulfilling the will of your immortal father, . tlie unifier of Jugo-Sla via.”

At Dedidje Palace, King Peter returned not lo his , play-room, with the cupboards filled with toys, but to the State apartments, which thus far he has rarely visited. Despite a law that, the sovereign must reside in Jugo-Sla via, it is hoped' to enable King Peter soon to return to school in Surrey, as it is feared that the constant atmosphere of official ceremony will interfere with his upbringing. King Alexander’s body arrived at Bpalato and was saluted by 101 guns. It was carried through the streets, and then entrained for Zagreb. He then greeted a crowd of generals, and kissed the hand of the Patriarch, ivho blessed him. The young King next kissed the hands of the Prime Minister, members of the Government, and the, ladies-in-waiting. Ife entered the carriage with his mother, who was dressed in the deepest mourning and was unable to suppress her tears, and drove to th-o palaco along a three-mile route through serried ranks of school children. ITALIAN BROADCASTS The Government has protested to Italy against statements in an Italian broadcast, containing comments on the Jugoslavian situation, and suggesting that disruption is imminent. A message from Rome states that the Jugo-Slav broadcasts hasp been discontinued. They will be resumed under strict supervision. The Government suppressed a special edition of the Giornale TFltalia for describing anti-Croat and anti-Catholic demonstrations in Jugo-Slavia. With one or twoi exceptions, the Italian newspapers completely abstained from comments on the assassination of King Alexander, and even the comments which are published urge that the countries in Europe, in order to avoid being overwhelmed by internal crises, must revise international politics.
