Registrations for 1934-35.

A total of 13,991 registrations were recorded by the Poultry Board' for the period from dune 1, 1934 to September l , .1934, for which the fees received amounted to £3373. The last! Government census of poultry, 193(5, showed over 30,000 flocks of 3o or more fowl's. It is obvious that thousands of poultrykeepers whose ‘ ‘ poultry-runs V arc subject to the provisions of the Act, amt who should have registered in June last, have failed to do so. 1 Whilst the board will, in the meantime, accept voluntary overdue registrations without, any question of penalty, action will have to be taken if necessary to enforce the provisions of the Act. A register is now in course-of preparation, and local lists will soon bo available. These will be of very material assistance in checking up registrations and detecting defaulters. For the protection of poultry keepers, it may be mentioned that no one is authorised to collect registration .fees except postmasters and the secretary of the board.
