Cyril Farquhar Chapman, 33,* a clerk, iwas charged in the Magistrate's Court with negligently driving a thereby causing bodily injury to R. E. Burns. .Detective Sergeant Revell said that three firemen from the Mahia were knocked down at 6.30 p.m. on Saturday a car which the police alleged was driven by the accused. The car did not stop. ' Two of the men, Knight and Burns, w’ere likely to be in hospital for some time. The othftr man, Coble, was to leave to-morrow with his ship. After Coble’s evidence had been heard, Chapman was remanded on bail.
