WRESTLING
MEYER DEFEATS SANTEN The second match of the wrestling season at Auckland was much more lively and full of action than that of the previous week. The contestants were Dr. Fred Meyer and Charlie Santen, two recent, arrivals from America.
Meyer won by two falls to one. Both were gained by submissions to hammerlocks, whereas Santen pinned his opponent after an aeroplane spin and slam. Meyer’s falls were gained in the third and sixth rounds, while Santen secured his in the fifth.
Rough methods were used by both men throughout, but the crowd, which was no so large as usual, was definitely on Santen’s side. rle was loudly cheered for employing tactics which brought storms of hooting to Moyer.
MORE MEN ARRIVING. It was announced by an official of the Wellington Wrestling Association that the Chinese wrestler, Wong Buk Cheung, who was not expected to reach New Zealand from America until next month, will arrive at Auckland by the Mariposa on Friday. Dan Koloff and Dean Dctton are on the same vessel.
