WAIROA SUB-UNION FORTHCOMING- MATCHES (Herald Correspondent.) Matches :it, homo and abroad were under discussion at the weekly meeting of the Wairou Rugby sub-union management committee, held on Monday, the committee making final plans for the dispatch of a team to Napier to play the Napier-llastings sub-union team on May 24, and for ihe visit ol tho Rotorua union's representative side to Wniron, for June 4. There were present at, ilie meeting Messrs. T. French, chairman, ‘McDonald, R. Goodloy, F. Foley, E. Ebbitt, J. T. Robson, K. Winiata, P. A. Milne, N. Osborne, and J. J. -Millar, lion, secretary. An apology for absence was received from Mr. A. G. Nolan. Correspondence was receive;! from the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union on various subjects, including the request from the Wairoa sub-union for financial assistance, the condition ol country grounds, the Napier-llastings v. Wairoa match, and the annual grant for school Rugby equipment. The letters were dealt with in short order, all being received. The secretary reported on the negotiations with the Rotorua Union, regarding the match for June 4 at Wairoa, and the arrangements were confirmed. The secretary was instructed to telegraph the Rotorua union to that effect. A referee’s report was received in connection with the third grade match between Old Boys and Pirates, the report indicating that the official had had trouble with one of the Pirates players The player was warned that a recurrence of troulile would be followed by serious results. Fixtures for Saturday next were made as under ■Seniors.—Mahia v. Tnpuae, ground to be arranged: Pirates v. Nuliaka, on Nuliaka ground at 2.45 p.m.; Old Boys v. Whakaki, on Wairoa No. 1 ground, at 2.45 p.m. Juniors.—Western: Pirates v. Wai karernonna, oil Wairoa No. 1 ground at 1.30 p.m. ; Old Boys v. Waiau, on Wairoa No, 2 ground at 1.30 p.m. Eastern : Mahia v. Whakaki, at Opoutarna. at 1.30 p.m. : Morere v. Nuliaka on Nuliaka ground at 1.30 p.m. Thirds.—To bo arranged. Registrations of additional players were applied for as under:—Pirates. — P. Neale, A. F. Nilsson, and A. Martin (seniors), W. J. Hole and J. MePhail (juniors), and G. Devcry (thirds). Tapuac.—Malmnga Pore, J. Mcßobcrts, J. McDonald, J. Thompson, P. Harrison and Watcnc. The registrations were approved and referred to the classification committee. In connection with the June 4 match, Wairoa v. Rotorua;' it was decided to play the leading teams in the eastern and western sections of the junior competition, in a curtain-raiser to the major fixture. A grant of £5 was made to the Referees' .Association, for the purchase of equipment The committee agreed to place a ground at the disposal of a team of Wednesday players, under the supervision of Mr R. Goodlev. Messrs. T. French and- V. Svensen were appointed to arrange transport for the Wairoa team which proceeds to Napier on May 23. and returns home on May 24 after the match with the Napi6r-Hastiilsi's sulvjuiioufrepresentatives. The meeting closed with the usual vote of thanks to the chair.
