DECLINE IN PRICES
SYDNEY WOOL SALES GENERAL COMPETITION SYDNEY, May 14. The wool sales were resumed. Competition was fairly general, mainly on German and French account, with good support from Yorkshire on suitable lines, and a moderate demand from Japan. Compared with the closing sales at the beginning of March, good bulky combing wools were 7£ to 10 per cent, lower, average fleece and skirtings about 15 to 20 per cent, lower, and inferior and faulty, for which competition was very irregular, 20 to 25 per cent, below March Sydney levels. Greasy merino made to 23d. The offerings consisted of 12,077 bales, of which 7053 were sold and 1817 bales were disposed of privately.
