empire day appeals LONDON, May 2. On the suggestion of the Duke of York, Empire Day will be adopted as a national collecting day in connection with the Empire cancer campaign at home and overseas. The public will be asked to aid research centres in Britain and the Dominions. The King has sent £IOO and the Queen £SO. Numerous Mayors have organised flag days.
