MEN’S. NARROW ESCAPE
(Per Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, this day
Two men, Messrs. H. Streeter, a contractor, of Christchurch, and R. G. McKie, a carpenter, of Christchurch, had a narrow escape when a house at Dunsandel which they were engaged in altering and renovating was burned down.
The house was the property of Mr 11. Rollings, and was insured for £250. At about 5.30 p.m. Mr McKie heard the crackling of flames. Both men gathered their personal effects and hastily -went out of the house. Mr Streeter returned for some money he had left, and was overcome by smoke and heat. Mr McKie -broke a window and dragged out Mr Streeter, who soon recovered.
