The autumnal equinox for the Southern Hemisphere, when the sun crosses the Equator on its way to provide the Northern Hemisphere with a summer, occurred yesterday. Theoretically, according to the literal meaning of equinox, the hours of daylight and the hours of dark-' ness should be exactly equal on Wednesday, remarks flic Post, but as a matter of fact they will not.
