ENGINEER APPOINTED
COOK COUNTY COUNCIL SOUTHLAND MAN CHOSEN The position of engineer to the Cook County Council was filled to-day by the appointment of Mr. K. F. Jones, assistant engineer to the Southland County Council. Mr. Jones was with the Waitemata County Council as assistant engineer from 1926 to 1928, since when he has been assistant engineer to the Southland County Council. He is a married man, 31 years of age. The decision was made at a special meeting of the council held to-day, when Mr. Jones and Mr. T. A. ilnvin, a Public Works Department engineer from Stratford, also attended and held a round-table talk with the council. Mr. Jones was given the post because of greater county experience. There were 91 applicants for the post The Southland County is one of the largest in area and for expenditure in New Zealand, and Mr. Jones lias had a great deal of experience in bridge construction and bitumen work. Mr. Jones will commence his duties about the middle of April.
