DAIRY PROBLEM
PROPOSED REMEDY GUARANTEED PRICES (Per Press Association,) CARTERTON, this day. Dir. B. Roberts, who will represent local dairy farmers at the conference when it is called by the Prime Minister, addressed a meeting of dairy farmers at Parkvale last evening, members being present from Dalelield, Taratahi, Kokotau, and Parkvale. The speaker introduced his remarks under the title of “The Crisis in the Dairy Industry.” He maintained that the only solution to save the industry from insolvency was a scheme for a Oovernrnent guaranteed internal price level of say 15d per lb. for’ butterfat. Mr. Roberts maintained that bad this been done in the first place, the Dominion would never have Had the present difficulties, nor Die unemployed problem. At the close of the address a resolution was passed: “That this meeting of dairy farmers at Parkvale believes that only a national scheme of guaranteed ■prices is adequate to deal with the national disaster which is facing the dairy industry, and supports its representative in urging the national dairy conference along the lines outlined.”
