BLENDING OF PETROL AUSTRALIAN INQUIRY MELBOURNE, March 1. At the petrol inquiry, George Ferguson, terminal manager of Texas Company, admitted that a shipment of power kerosene in the steamer South Africa was blended in the company’s tanks for the purpose of avoiding the payment of customs duty, and to increase supplies to meet an order. Robert Beatson, assistant in the operating division, said he accepted full responsibility for allowing the blending in the tank. He bad never discussed the matter with Beverley. He did not regard it as a fraud but as a technical irregularity. The hearing was adjourned. The major oil companies in Melbourne are making no increase in juice this week, though' a rise of Id per gallon had been rumored.
