PRICE OF TOBACCO
NO IMMEDIATE! RISE Despite reports to the contrary, there will he no increase in the price of tobacco in the immediate future. This announcement was made by the president of the Wellington District Retail Tobacconists and Hairdressers' Association at a meeting of the association this week. lie said that any variation would be in the direction of levelling prices, but no announcement would be possible until the whole task had been completed some weeks hence. Mr. R. W. Armit was re-elected us president for the tenth time, and Messrs. E. W. Humphrey and G. H. Bradley were re-elected as vice-presidents. Mr. Paget was elected secretary, and Messrs. A. Knowsley, If. 0. Osborn, and T. McCreary were appointed as tho executive. The Wellington association is one of the four main centres under the federation, which unites all tobacconists of the Dominion.
