The visit came at an opportune time in the history of dairying in tjie district, and he hoped the farmers present would make the most they could of the visit, even if they did not agree with the speakers. After thanking the meeting for the j welcome accorded him, Mr. lorns gave a masterly exposition of the recently {drafted regulations, elaborating each and giving the hoard’s amendment, and also the substance of two other regulations, lie denied that he was the author of .these regulations, but said that if brought into effect they would greatly improve the industry, as the hearty .co-operation of Tooloy Street merchants and a stoppage of short selling must tend to stabilise the market. Tho speaker gave an interesting history of the dairy industry, and detailed the efforts the board had made to improve marketing conditions, reduce freights and marine insurance, and generally improve the quality and advertise New Zealand butter, in the United Kingdom. Mr. Brasli also spoke on similar lines, and both carried the meeting with them most of the way. Important questions were asked and satisfactorily answered, and at the close motions of thanks to the speakers, confidence in the Dairy Produce Board, and endorsement of the new regulations were unanimously carried. A similar compliment to the chair closed the meeting. Messrs. lorns and Brash will visit Gisborne and the Coast.
