BETTER OUTLOOK
CONFIDENCE IN AUSTRALIA.
"Without any doubt there is a better outlook in Australia, this year than has been the case for the last four years,” said Mr. Edwin Geach, of Sydney, in an interview in Wellington: “This has ’come about as the restoration, or I should say the partial restoration, of. confidence on'the part of institutions and; individuals, encouraged inameasure by the improvement of wool, and meat values.
‘‘Money is moving more freely. Only two years ago it was difficult to get your own money out the banks when it was known that it was to be spent -abroad. That restriction, lias been removed. Of course, there is still the exchange to check any very wild expenditure in that direction. One bank. i]l. Sydney has a tourist branch, and' it is very busy. It is so keen to do business that I believe you can increase your overdraft- by the cost of a trip to New Zealand. A contributing factor to the present promising state of affairs is the restoration in New South Wales of stable, government, which has done much to restore that confidence which was lacking not so very long ago.”
