RECORD CROWDS

VANG A NTT CARNIVAL (Per Press Association.) : ' WANGANUI, this day. Fifteen thousand * people attended the final celebrations in connection with the' 10 days* carnival oil Saturday night. Glorious weather prevailed and the arrangements wore perfect. 1

A crowd approaching 20,000 attended at ‘CastlecJifif Bcaeh when the west coast surf championships were decided. Five, special trains arrived from Wellington, New Plymouth, Ilawera, and Maiton.

The crowds both on Saturday night and yesterday were the largest that have ever gathered in 'Wanganui, and the carnival was most successful, financial ami otherwise.
