MINERS DOWN TOOLS
DISPUTE AT ROTOWARO The alleged action of the management of the Taupirl Coal Company’s mine at Rotowaro in giving employment to two Renown miners and at the same time refusing to give work to a Huntly miner, was discussed at a stop-work meeting of miners on Wednesday. The men also protested against three former employees being omitted from the list when the company was calling for additional labor due to the increase in the Government coal order. It was alleged that preference was given to men from other mines.
The men decided to down tools until the union officials had interviewed the • mine superintendent, Mr. J. Watson. Nearly 200 men are engaged at the Rotowaro mine. Work was suspended tor the day. 4'H; ■
