CONGRESS IN ROME ROME, Dec. 24. Opening the Congress of Asiatic Students/attended by 600 representatives qf China, Japan, India, Persia, Afghanistan, Siam, Egypt and Syria, Mussolini welcomed all the Asiatic nations and added that history disproved the statement that East and West could not meet.

Ho added that twice during crises of civilisation the world had been saved by the collaboration of Rome and the East.

A Persian delegate said that it was the first time that the head of the Government of a great nation, admired throughout the world, had so clearly expressed sympathy for Eastern peoples.
