ISLANDS ’ CONTRIBUTION (British Official Wireless.) Bee. 10 a.m. RUGBY, Doc. 7. The Government of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, a colony which comprises a group o'f small islands in the Western Pacific, with a population of 34,000, has offered the sum of £750 as a contribution towards the cost of the defence services of the Empire. I The offer has been gratefully accepted, and the High Commissioner 'for the Western Pacific has been asked to convey .the sincere appreciation of His Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom.
