In the Legislative Council yesterday, Sir Edwin Mitchelson was granted leave of absence on account of illness.
The Piev. E. Nicholls, minister of the Baptist Church at Hastings, has accepted the call to the Wanganui Baptist Church, and will leave Hastings in February next.
The Hon. Sir James Parr, who is taking over the position of High Commissioner for Lew Zealand in London, leaves for Home by the- Rangitane front Napier on December 21. The Rev. Harold Fallows, M.A., who has been associated with All Saints’, Ponsonby, Auckland, has accepted the cure of the Rox'burgh-Tapanui parochial district, and will take up his new duties at the beginning of Februa rv.
.Miss Patricia Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Nelson, Woodville, whose engagement to Mr. Donald McLarty, of the Riverina district, New South Wales, has been announced, is a clever young actress who visited New Zealand last year. She- has been lately touring the big towns in Australia in the J- C. Williamson “Tout Paris” company, and is now in Sydney.
