Proposals to convert 57 loans totalling ■fi 1,455,050 to a lower rate of interest have been announced by the Wellington City Council. The original rates of interest on the. loans ranged from 4| P (, r cent, to 5i per cent., but under present legislation the ell'ne.tive rates are iron) 4] per cent, to 4 2-5 per cent.
