(Received Dec. 7, noon) rri SYDNEY, Dec. 7. the Lieutenant Governor of Papua. .Sir Hubert Murray, who has arrived at Sydney, stated that unless the Commonwealth subsidy of £40,000 a year to Papua is restored to the previous level ol £SO.CCO. he feared that it. would he impossible for the police to hold their present line in the back country, near the old German border. Failure to hold the line might entail the loss of many lives.
